I'm gettin taken to magistrate for local earned income taxes not paid yet?
township says old employer never paid them, but we had stubs that said they did. Stubs lost in last flooding , and old employer gone from usa !! we are on the hook no matter what , as they've told me.
Have been making small monthly payments, but change of managers , they now do not want to continue that. Can they take what percent ( I owe total $2000 and make $325 take home a week). of a paycheck ?
also, part of the total is due to their penalties and interest - not just straight out tax (1% of annual income).
I was having trouble making the small monthly, I can't come up with two grand in a month !
Advice Please ?

After quickly looking it up, you're dealing with Central Tax Bureau. They are by far the worst of the large earned income tax bureaus to deal with.
Don't bother with the IRS transcript. Local tax information isn't on them.
Since Centax can't find your employer, they've chosen the next best option, which is you. Just because you're going to the magistrate, doesn't mean that Centax will automatically win. They lose in court quite often, especially if you have a smart magistrate.
Also since they are collecting for your township, speak with your township's mayor (if it has one) or one of your township's supervisors.
As for the what part can they take part. Take your gross income and deduct all the taxes (not insurance or 401) and multiply that by 15%.
