How can I wash my teddy bear and remove marker stains?
My nephew wrote all over my custom teddy bear. It was a gift from my best friend who went out and got a sweater from my high school custom made to fit the bear. It's about 10 in. long. Can I put in the washer? How about dryer? Will the highlighter come off? Thanks
Is there a tag on the teddy bear that says it's washable? If not, then don't wash in a machine.
If it can go in a washer, spray the marker stains with hair spray and blot with paper towels. Repeat until nearly invisible. The put the teddy bear in the washer with other items the same color in warm or cold water. You might want to put teddy in a mesh laundry bag first. Take off any ribbons or other decorations. Wash as usual. Put teddy in the dryer for about 5-10 minutes with the other clothes. Take out and set teddy on a counter top or somewhere where his dampness will not damage the area. No wood, like a table or fabric, like a chair. When dry, fluff with your fingers.
If not washable, use the hair spray method. When finished, use a damp cloth to get the hair spray odor out of teddy. Let him air dry. When dry, fluff with your fingers.
